Instructions for President Research Paper
First, pick a president. Each class will draw for numbers, and the lowest number gets to pick first.
Once you have selected a President, begin reading about his term in office. You must select his most important, defining moment/action as President.
This assignment is two-fold:
1. Write a three page research paper over your President’s Most Defining Moment. This paper must be:
a. Typed
b. Double Spaced
c. 12 point print
d. Must have 3 sources
i. One Encylopedia (online or print)
ii. One book source
iii. One Internet
e. Must have bibliography (MLA)
f. Must have at least 3 note cards.
g. Must have an outline
h. Must have Cover-page.
i. Must have rough draft.
All of this follows MLA format.
Dr. Snyder will be grading everything but the final paper itself. I will be grading the final paper AND the PowerPoint.
Your paper should discuss the historical causes for your President’s Defining Moment, what caused him to make the decisions he did, and the impact of that decision.
The PowerPoint must be minimum of 10 slides and should tell the story of your President’s Most Defining Moment. You will present your PowerPoint to the class in a short presentation about your moment.
This assignment is due on Jan 31 for red day, February 1 for Gold Day. Not everyone will be able to present that day obviously, but you will have to show me that you have it ready to present anyway. Whoever picked their president first will have to present first. I will keep a record of the order.
Late papers/presentations are automatically graded at 59% of their normal score.
